Custom design for owner. Residence with three levels and a detached garage. Owner desired a larger house relative to smaller houses in the neighborhood, but still wanted to keep the appearance of a smaller scale home. To achieve the look, we added a hipped roof and kept eaves at a 1.5 story level. Instead of traditional framed-in porches, we conceived of a recessed porch much like a deep pueblo porch.
This home was strategically placed on a large, untouched, side-sloping site. With wooded preserves surrounding the lot, we conceived of a home that is reminiscent of a mountain manor, but with a contemporary look and feel. The home has an attached carriage house with a guest suite above. Unique features include an inglenook, vaulted ceilings, wine cellar, movie theater, zen room, and stair tower. This house was positioned on the site accordingly to allow for maximum mature tree retainage, deep natural light, and ample space for entertaining.
